Don't make excuses.
Forget what you were taught about pretty women.
We. Are. Human.
Gigolos ain't the only ones who "get lonely too".
What? You say Pretty Women have it too easy?
Have you asked one how her day was and then really waited for the answer?
Did she snap at you? Are you sure?
Did she hear you correctly? Did you hear her correctly?
Did you approach her with animosity? Curiousity?
Did you drop the "lines" and simply ask her - "Hey Sis, How you doin' today?"
Hmm, she still snapped? Well, then maybe she had a bad day.
Maybe she's just tired of being held to standards that are unreasonable.
Maybe she just wants to be a sistah who is:
Admired for who She Is
Without being touched without her permission or judged.
Or told that "She thinks she's cute." or "She ain't all that anyway."
She just wants to be loved by her man, a Strong Black man who accepts her as she is.
She just wants a Strong Black man who accepts her and won't toss her aside if she dares reveal less than perfect attributes.

Or...maybe that's just me.

For Life - Naturally 7

I'm newly "obsessed" with this group Naturally 7, who seems to be blowing up in Europe. In light of our recent tragedies, this video is JUST what I need. May it bring U joy, as well!

N-word...2 Kick Around...and OUT?

Do we think it's possible to EVER cease the "casual" use of the Horrible N Word? Dick Gregory tried to slap us into awareness with his book entitled such. Richard Pryor stopped using it after his visit to Africa. Will this word EVER offend US as deeply as the swastika & derogatory term himey offends Jews?
I admit that I was lulled into the complacency of using the N word until I moved to NYC. Now, when I use it I mean it in its worst sense. If I call you this word it should sting worse than Puta or MotherF*&er. Living here in NYC I've trained myself NOT to cringe or allow my blood pressure to rise every time I hear the N word flung around the streets by the youth of ALL cultures here. I've trained myself to no longer desire a lead pipe to bash out the brains of the individual who uttered the word so flippantly. I'm not sure which would excite me more: a Black President or the death of the N word. Let's kick THIS around ... and eventually OUT!

No Virgin

I'm no Virgin...
but I've never been explored...

I am virgin territories of unexplored depths.

I've been touched.
But, rarely connected.

I've been held.
But, rarely sheltered.

I've been in conversations.
But, rarely conferred with.

I've been looked at.
But, rarely looked into.

I've been listened to.
But, rarely heard.

I've been kissed.
But, rarely distinguished.

I've danced with.
But, rarely worked through steps.

I've partied with.
But, rarely been party to the collaboration of committed partnership.

And Now,
I am being regenerated
By The Creator ... for the Brother
... who I will fight for...not with.
... who will be the first... to be my last.

Be knot a frayed.

I sort through old, whole suitors.
Salvaging the great scraps, I toss the rest into a heap behind me.
The colors, hues, and varied textures bring tears of joy and pain while I reminisce on the memories of how I wore each one.
Fabrics frayed, care labels worn thin and often ignored.
I search through my spools of wisdom, prayers and holy texts for the right threads to peace it all together.
God has a purpose for this full closet and ragged me.
Retrospective studies sort through caresses, detect sincere words, hesitant gazes, bold statements, tones used to mask sensitive nerves and egos, and unravel errors in judgment.
Slowly, carefully, thimbles and cautionary tools are gathered in preparation for this new love quilt that is stitched by times' efforts of pushing through thick layers of belief patterns.

Can we get a moment of silence for the ORIGINAL Biggie Smalls?

I was heart broken to learn that one of my heroes, Calvin Lockhart had passed away last week on March 29th. He will always be remembered by me as one of the finest Brothers on the Big Screen. My prayers go out to his family.
