Lately (when I'm not working, reading, commuting, writing, working, flirting, commuting, dating, working, etc.), I've been looking 'round blog-land again. You know, making it around to the regulars who visit me - cuz I don't have time to branch out & get addicted to new folk. What I've noticed is: I get plenty of "hits" according to that meter thang, but I get very few comments or followers in comparison to others I peek in on.
Now, most of U regulars know I'm kind of like a nutty professor who does her own thang with little regard to what will draw the crowd. But, my curiosity is peaked & I'd love to hear what you think the reason for my low comment-age.
Am I too sexy, too "light-skinneded", too serious, too all over the place in my topic choices, too infrequent in my posting, .... ???
Trust me - I don't offend easily. I'm not asking because I'm insecure - I doubt I'll change because of any answers;-) ... I'm just honestly curious.
I guess I'm also asking because in the real world I often hear: "You're cool for a light-skinned sistah." Sadly, I DO know that many of my sistahs of the lighter hue don't carry themselves in a personable manner - so, I don't even get offended by the observation. But, I am wondering if skin tone affects my blog-world, too. I guess this is also on my mind since the country's "hyped" about the affects of Race on the Election. What about Intra-Racism - have we grown past that yet? Are we making ANY progress? What say U?

LOL. I read alot of blogs, facebook, Yahoo groups, Net surfing/shopping and etc. I can barely real all let alone comment. Nothing personal. *sh-sh* I read and post at work. Don't tell my boss. LOL.

Personally, most of the time I want to comment but your thought provoking posts leave me with LOTS to say and since I'm usually at work (like Shai...sssshhhh...)I dont have the time to put my thoughts togther and type em out. Very interesting about the skin tone question. I just don't know. But actually I think that you receive a decent amount of comments.
Although, I know what you mean about blogs where they receive 30+ comments regularly. I don't know how they do it. I haven't been able to sustain that level of comments. I figure all we can do is be true to ourselves, enjoy what we write, and hope that there might be some people who will enjoy it and pipe in every once in a while too.

I see you finally got your three column thang working. Cool. From the looks of your site meter thing, you have more overall visitors than me, but I don't visit a lot. I just don't have the time anymore. I think that always affects your numbers. I've even seen my comments fluctuate based on how much i visit other blogs. It's a catch 22. When you are trying to get in the game, you have to go see everybody, but once you establish yourself it's hard to keep up with all those folks and maintain everything else you do.
For now, I'm just focusing on improving my craft. I can't worry about visits. I'll see them in the stores. Like you, I try to get around to the folk who have been around for a while. As well as those who visit me regularly. The new folk have to wait till my schedule opens back up.
