How Do U Feel About Porn Enthusiasts?

Blog Family of readers - How do U all feel about porn? I mean especially: How do u feel if your partner needs/wants it and u don't? How do u think your partner feels if u need/want it and s/he doesn't?

Ok, I know it's a billion dollar industry. I know it's getting huge press in light of Spitzer's "dethroning", R. Kelly's never ending saga and Prim Kristin Davis' rumors. And, maybe I am just a wee bit naive when it really gets down to it. Porn - in my head - is a bit different than "freaky", consensual sex with your partner of choice where u may choose to include a porn-flick in your session. Maybe I've been 'lying' to myself to justify. Or maybe I really just don't know. But, to be honest, I tend to think that serious porn enthusiasts are perverts - like the smelly dudes you see in public libraries all day renewing their time on the computer.

The one time in college I entered a dorm room with a "skin flick" on - the "action" looked so stilted that I've never had any incentive to see another (maybe they've gotten better - but I'll pass). Yes, I'm very secure in myself with a chosen individual intimately. But, I'm not comfortable with group intimacy, exhibitionist behavior, or casual flings on vacations. However, the more I "date" the more I'm discovering that I'm in some moral "minority". I try not to register the pure shock (read: disgust) on my face when a man I'm dating reveals his interest in porn. I try to display the nonchalant attitude that I "know" that "boys will be boys". But, you know the most shocking aspect to me - is not just the "yuck" factor (okay - yea, I'm a dweeb;-) - but the MONEY that gets poured into such a past time! I'm not [generally;-)] a judgmental person - what u do is your thang, but - I'm sayin' ... what if it affects me (or your significant other)?

Please don't throw tomatoes as u leave comments - i just wanna know! And please be sensitive to my sensitivity in your comments. LOL!

GOOD Friday...dreams for others....

This is inspired by a comment left by Sistah LoveBabz over on a post I did at CapCha'd in Luv.

I am not, yet, a parent. Being the youngest, I've never watched a sibling grow. I have watched my nephews grow -- but remind myself that they're still "someone else's" who raise them differently than I would my own. So, I watch with love from a safe distance, darting in to give hugs and words of encouragement like running through traffic dodging the siblings. Since I am the youngest sibling my "elders" have gotten offended when I gave advice, so I keep it to myself. I have turned my advice into my life work. My hope is that my nephews will see how I'm living, witness what I accomplish and know that they have options. I am also aware that I am their aunt, not an uncle. The options I display may not appeal to them or even seem viable to young Black men coming of age in this society. But, still I live as closely to my words of advice as I can, cuz just maybe they are watching more than I think.

Maybe some of U know what it's like to dream a bigger dream for others than you do for yourself. Now that I am a published author some of my family gatherings feel strange to me. I'm not sure how to describe it, yet. It feels like a new pair of jeans that I'm breaking in. The discussions of where this writing thing will go are so different from my own thoughts about my writing career that I'm never sure how to react. To me: I'm just me - writing, putting out books, promoting them, and getting my hustle on. Some of my family members already see me on Oprah (yes, that's been said and I don't think they were joking). While I am thankful for such strong belief in me and what I have now been called to do - I'm. not. sure. how. to. react. So, all I can say is: Thank you to all who dream so big for me.

I Relish in... rainy day musings...

... the word Relish;-).
... rainy dayz like today - where i don't have to go out, but may choose to -- just to get all in the elements.
... my bed -- it has to be THE most comfortable bed in the WORLD!
... my Daddy -- we NEVER run outta thangs to talk about!
... my Moma -- we've grown SO much together!
... my 3 nephews -- they're each the funniest, smoothest, dearest young men I know (as well as cutest/most handsome;-)!
... my sisters -- they're my personal motivators;-).
... my friends -- I've been TRULY blessed by the Creator with the individuals that have been brought into my life.
... a good drank (also relish in the fact that i can do without;-).
... a great meal.
... the funny, smart, entertaining, philosophical, political, wildin' out, etc. Bloggers I've come to "know".
... peace & great health:-).
... things i'm passionate about: reading, writing, laughing, talking, listening, people watching, living!!

There's a video over on i-Lit.com that is a "Must See" for anyone who is hustlin' to live their dream!

It's an interview of the author, Robert Greene who wrote the book: The 48 Laws of Power. Basically, he says we all need to get our Hustle ON! One other thing that he said which struck a chord for me (I've paraphrased as I remembered it:-): "We all experience pivotal moments which make or break us." When I was invited to be part of the Bloggers' Delight phenomena - I felt that was a major pivotal moment for me. It has been worth it for me to live the Spike Lee method of USE CREDIT 'til I GETS MINE.

Yes, U "heard" it here first! So, Hang onto your Wig! As my now five-year old nephew said when he was a mere three-year old prophet: "We're going for a bumpy RIDE!" And what a gloriously bumpy ride it has been and I expect it to continue to be!

NYC's VIP Bk Celebration March 8th - THANX!!

This is a mere glimpse at a celebration that I hosted this past Saturday in appreciation to those who have supported my fiction debut and my transition to this New York City "wilderness". The celebration took place at Antoinette's Restaurant in Harlem. Thanx to all who made it through Saturday's torrential rains! Thanx for the calls, texts & emails from those who were there in spirit, but unable to attend in body. I had a FANTASTIC time! HUGZ 2 ya ALL!
Several Bloggers even made it out: Ms. Lee, i.am.malik and Lance (the non-Blogging Blogger;-). As others send me images from all of their fancy cameras I'll create a li'l video to show you more. Until then - enjoy!

I'm wondering if I'm being left out of a blog ru$h & fun that seems to be swirling around me. I have always been sort of "in my own world". I think that's the result of being the youngest child - I've had to entertain myself quite a bit and rarely concern myself with what's going on around me. Periodically, I'll look up from the books I'm reading or writing and wonder if I'm missing something.

So ... Am I ... missing something?

As I look at other's blogs & poems on romance I feel little to no excitement (& cannot muster a comment other than: That's nice).

The only thing that "flips my skirt" these dayz is hustling my Fiction Debut & working on my next one! I still enjoy flirting sometimes - but don't get consumed by it like I used to. Am I just a HARD-AZZ Beeeatch? LOL!
